About five to six times a year we invite a small group of senior execs and friends of Leadership Horizons for a Prairie Dog Break (PDB) usually on a Friday morning for about an hour and a half (8:30-10:00). The focus of discussion is a hot management topic, usually a book or a couple of articles I'll send you. When you come you get to hobnob with other owners/ Presidents, participate in a facilitated discussion, read a really cool book, and get away from the day-to-day to explore a bigger picture for your organization. Interested? There is NO COST* to you. (I knew I'd get your attention!) Read on...

Have you ever seen a prairie dog standing on its hind legs in an open field? The common explanation is the dog is a sentry for encroaching foe, that for every prairie dog you see, there are dozens below ground who depend on the lead dog for their security (sound familiar?).

I, on the other hand, assign a different meaning: I think this is the LEAD dog asking, "Where the heck is all this tunneling taking me?" As the "lead dog" in your organization, do you find yourself standing sentry when you should be strategizing? Are you too wrapped up in tunneling to ask, "Where is all this activity taking us?" In this time of dizzying change, it may be easier to just work (tunnel) harder. Be more efficient. Operate faster. And who has time for introspection? Maybe a break from all that burrowing would help. Maybe a chance to stand on your hind legs and ask, "Is all this digging taking me where I want to go?" Maybe you need a Break. A time to reflect, regain perspective, and remember why you got into business in the first place.

Prior registration is a must so call or email me to find out when the next PDD is and to reserve your spot. I hope you take me up on this offer. The risk is low and the return is great! And remember its FREE!* I look forward to seeing you at our next PDB!

*I lied about the NO COST /FREE thingy, you'll have to buy your own copy of the book each month.
